The artist
The joy is in the layers.
Kiki Mullen creates richly layered colored pencil artwork, turning flowers, birds, butterflies, and still life subjects into vivid studies of color and light.
Kiki’s artistic journey with Lille Viking Designs began as a lampworking artist, creating intricate glass beads with a 3,000° flame. In 2021, she returned to the colored pencils that first drew her to art and found the medium that brought her pure joy.
Every part of the creative process, from the original concept and reference photography to color, composition, lighting, and design, is Kiki’s own work. Her drawings have appeared in Colored Pencil Magazine, Talking Point, exhibitions with the Rhode Island Watercolor Society and UK Colour Pencil Society, and twice at Pennsylvania’s Art of the State exhibition.
